Denver Nuggets v Los Angeles Lakers - Game Three

Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets entered Game 4 of their Western Conference finals series against the LA Lakers in prime position. This comes as the Nuggets are up 3-0 with a chance to sweep the Lakers. Denver struggled to keep up with LA's hot shooting and overall desperation in the first half, leading to the Nuggets trailing 73-58 at halftime. However, Jokic still did his best to keep Denver in the game.

Jokic entered halftime with a stat line of 10 points, four rebounds, eight assists, one steal, and two blocks on 50.0% shooting. This included a ridiculous high-arcing, shot-clock buzzer-beating, fadeaway 3-pointer over Lakers star forward LeBron James early in the second quarter.

Following the Nuggets’ Game 3 win over the Lakers, Nikola Jokic spoke about Denver having an opportunity to sweep LA. Jokic then spoke about his worry over being able to closeout an elite player like LeBron James:

“I mean, to be honest, I’m not going to say that I’m scared, but I’m worried because they have LeBron on the other side and he is capable of doing everything,” Jokic said.

Jokic added that the Nuggets were going to keep their same mindset in Game 4. However, he expected the Lakers to ratchet up their intensity facing elimination:

“We’re going to come here with the same mindset, same focus, and I think that’s going to put us in a situation to win a game,” Jokic said.
“But we never know. They’re going to be aggressive. Of course, they’re going to be extra physical, extra — they’re going to run more, they’re going to — everything is going to be on a different level or one more of anything. So we will see.”
