“We’re not a team that’s constructed of great shooting” – LeBron James believes Warriors deliberately gave the Lakers uncontested 3 pt. shots as they lack shooting depth

LeBron James and the LA Lakers kicked things off against the Golden State Warriors last night. They looked out of sorts all game long. The team shot just 25% from 3-point range and lost 123-109.

The Lakers don't appear to be a huge threat in the Western Conference this season. Most fans are tuning in to watch LeBron James break Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's all-time scoring record.

Their performance against the Warriors last night was nothing short of a disaster. In a post-game interview, LeBron James spoke candidly about the team's underwhelming play. The 18-time All-Star also touched on their lack of shooting.

"I think we’re getting great looks, but it could also be teams giving us great looks," James said.
"To be completely honest, we’re not a team constructed of great shooting."
"It’s not like we’re sitting here with a lot of lasers on our team. But that doesn't deter us from still trying to get great shots. When we get those opportunities, you take them."

Lakers fans aren't very confident that the team will make the playoffs. Over the summer, the front office failed to surround their star players with quality shooters. They needed to trade Russell Westbrook in order to improve their roster flexibility. But they were unable to find a suitable trade partner.

With Westbrook still on the team, the Lakers had no choice but to start the season with a heavily flawed roster.

Can the Lakers' Anthony Davis win MVP?

A lot is expected of Anthony Davis this season. He failed to take control of the team and become the number one option last season. Due to his injury woes, he couldn't develop a rhythm with his teammates.

He's hoping to make up for lost time. Davis only played 40 games last season. The Lakers finished 12th in the West with a 33-49 record. They missed the playoffs for the second time in four years.

He's still capable of playing at a superstar level, but his health will always be a factor. If he stays on the court, there's a good chance he could lead the team to the playoffs. It could also be his ticket to winning the MVP award.

There's a lot at stake for Los Angeles this season. With a subpar roster, both James and Davis are expected to carry a heavy workload.

Lakers' early trade options for Russell Westbrook

The Lakers are stuck with Russell Westbrook. It will be difficult to convince another team to take on his albatross $47 million contract. According to reports, the Lakers missed out on an opportunity to trade Westbrook to the Utah Jazz this offseason.

Tony Jones from 'The Athletic' revealed that the Jazz were willing to trade Mike Conley, Rudy Gay, Bojan Bogdanovic and a 2023 first-rounder for Russell Westbrook. They also wanted two future first-round picks as a reward for taking on Westbrook's contract.

The Lakers are looking to bounce back after their loss against the Warriors. They'll take on the LA Clippers tomorrow at Crypto.com Arena.
