Bogdan Bogdanovic has turned into an important piece of the puzzle for the Atlanta Hawks. The organization rewarded their talented wing on Thursday, agreeing to a contract extension with the 30-year-old.

First reported by NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Bogdanovic and the Hawks have agreed on a four-year, $68 million extension. Bogdanovic's contract was set to have an $18 million player option this summer for the 2023-24 season. Instead, Bogdanovic and the Hawks have agreed on a deal that will prevent him from reaching the free agent market.

Atlanta (34-35) has had a roller coaster of a season after coming into the year with some lofty expectations. After a slow start to the season, the Hawks dismissed coach Nate McMillan last month. Since then, the Hawks have hired Quin Snyder, who had led the Utah Jazz to sustained success.

Bogdanovic has been a versatile offensive weapon, averaging 14.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game while shooting 40.1% from 3-point range.

The Atlanta Hawks are looking to create stability with their franchise. After a season that has featured a roller coaster of emotions, the extension for Bogdan Bogdanovic is a step in the right direction.

Still just 30 years old, Bogdanovic has been a notable asset around the NBA with his offensive ability. The 6-foot-6 wing has the tools to be a floor-spacing threat on any night and has stood out with his craft on the perimeter.

Atlanta is in eighth place in the Eastern Conference after winning just five of its last 10 games. They are three games behind the Miami Heat (38-33) for seventh place.

The Hawks will look to get on a roll, as they are trending towards having to compete in the NBA's play-in tournament in order to earn reach the playoffs. Atlanta will have to be careful as it is only two games back of falling to 10th place in the standings as well.

Atlanta, which has lost its last two outings, is preparing to take on the Golden State Warriors (36-34) on Friday. It will be the Hawks' final game of a three-game homestand before traveling to San Antonio to take on the Spurs (18-51) on Sunday.
