What happened to Reggie Jackson? Latest update on Nuggets guard's injury after he was spotted using crutches(April 26)

NBA: Playoffs-Los Angeles Lakers at Denver Nuggets
Looking at the injury sustained by Nuggets guard Reggie Jackson in Game 3 of NBA Playoffs

Nuggets guard Reggie Jackson suffered an injury late in their Game 3 win over the LA Lakers on Thursday. With under a minute to go in the first quarter, Jackson accidentally landed on the foot of Anthony Davis while fighting for a rebound. Moments after rolling his ankle, Jackson limped off the floor, heading toward the Nuggets locker room.

Supported by a teammate and a member of the Nuggets staff, Jackson made his way back to the locker room. Reports indicated he was questionable to return to the game in the fourth quarter before Reggie Jackson reappeared on the Nuggets bench with his ankle wrapped up.

After the game, Jackson was reportedly seen using crutches and a walking boot to get around on Friday, the day after the injury. In addition, coach Michael Malone spoke about the situation after Thursday's game.

He too explained Jackson was questionable to play in Game 3 before the injury after playing just eight minutes in Game 2. Malone told media members the team had already discussed how they would proceed if Jackson couldn't play.

While the latest update isn't optimistic, if you're a Denver fan, the team's 3-0 lead will give Jackson time to rest before the second round. Should the team sweep LA on Saturday, they would have a week at minimum before the start of the conference semifinals.

So far, there has been no word regarding when Jackson will return to action. So, there's a possibility the team could start the second round without him.

Looking at Reggie Jackson's stats vs the LA Lakers and how the team will adapt in his absence

As many fans have pointed out in the wake of Reggie Jackson's injury, when the guard is healthy, the Nuggets have yet to lose a game to the Lakers. Denver is on an 11-game win streak against the LA Lakers. Jackson has won seven straight against LA in games he's participated in.

Although he missed time during last year's playoff series between the two teams, he was key in two meetings between Denver and LA this season. In the team's Oct. 24 game, he played 24 minutes, while in the team's Feb. 8 meeting, he played 26.

Since then, Jackson has suffered injuries in the four most recent meetings between the two teams, averaging just 9.0 mpg. Given his recent stretch of injuries, Michael Malone and his team have already prepared for the possibility that Jackson wouldn't be healthy.

A report from CBS Sports indicates the expectation in his absence is that Justin Holiday and Christian Braun will both receive an uptick in minutes. With Game 4 around the corner, it will be interesting to see whether Jackson's absence impacts the team.
