Tyler Hansbrough was a star at UNC before making his way to the pros, but had his screw-ups. One being that he apparently deterred John Wall from joining the university.

During a recent episode of his "Run Your Race" podcast, Wall opened up on his experience of choosing a college. He stated that North Carolina was his dream school, but one tiny encounter completely changed his mind.

While on his visit, Wall claimed that Tyler Hansbrough disrespected him. After being treated like that, he opted to go play for Kentucky.

“So I go on the visit, Ty Lawson and them are there. Tyler Hansbrough’s got his own section...
"I’m the recruit, I walk up and say, ‘What’s up.’ He said, ‘I don’t talk to recruits.’ I was like, ‘F**k you, I ain’t coming here.’ That f**ked it up right there.”

Wall spent one season at Kentucky and won Player of the Year before being drafted first overall by the Washington Wizards.

While the LA Clippers guard was very serious about the story, Hansbrough did not feel the same way. He said that the story didn't happen and cited other factors as to why Wall opted to join Kentucky over UNC.

What does Tyler Hansbrough do now?

In college, Tyler Hansbrough was a 20-point-per-game scorer and national champion. However, it was John Wall who had the last laugh. He went on to have a better and longer NBA career than the guy who disrespected him during a college visit.

Hansbrough was drafted 13th overall in the 2009 NBA Draft, but did not manage to stick around in the league. He played for the Indiana Pacers, Toronto Raptors and Charlotte Hornets across six years before being bounced out of the league.

Following this John Wall-Tyler Hansbrough story, many are asking the same question. What is the former UNC standout doing now?

After his time in the NBA ended, Hansbrough made the decision to play overseas. He spent three seasons in China, where he played in the Chinese Basketball Association.

Hansbrough is back in the states now and is still around the game of basketball. But it's in a bit of a different capacity.

During the 2021 season, Hansbrough made his broadcasting debut for the UNC men's basketball team. The former NBA forward also hosts a podcast titled "SleepHawk Worldwide."

Hansbrough is still heavily connected to the UNC program, and was even spotted playing in summer pick-up games at the university. It would not be shocking if at some point down the line he is on UNC's coaching staff.
