Dallas Mavericks fans are anxiously awaiting the debut of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving on the same floor as teammates. The hope is that the two superstars could take the court together this weekend for the first time.

Irving was acquired by the Dallas Mavericks in a trade from the Brooklyn Nets earlier this week. In his first game with the Mavericks, a 110-104 win over the LA Clippers on Wednesday, Irving finished with 24 points, four rebounds and five assists. Luka Doncic is still working himself back from a heel injury, one that has kept him out of the Mavericks' last three games.

Doncic has been one of the most dominant offensive forces in the entire NBA. But the Mavericks have struggled to surround him with offensive firepower. The hope is that Irving and Doncic can team up to make the Mavericks more dangerous than ever. Speaking to the media, Luka spoke about how excited he is to team up with Irving after first thanking his former teammates.

"I wanna thank Spencer (Dinwiddie) and Do (Dorian Finney-Smith). Those are my guys, but Kyrie is Kyrie. ... probably the best ball handler in the game. It's gonna be fun to play with him."

Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic has been one of the most impressive players throughout this season. He's averaging 33.4 points, 8.9 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game while shooting 50.4%. This is the first time in his career in which Luka is averaging north of 30.0 ppg.

He's become a serious candidate for the league's MVP award. Over the years, Doncic has struggled to find a complimentary piece with star power. Dallas tried to get Doncic some support when they acquired Kristaps Porzingis. After that didn't work, the Mavericks decided to move Porzingis to the Washington Wizards.

This will be the first time in which Doncic has a legit superstar who can be a dangerous offensive weapon as well. Kyrie Irving has shown that when he's on the court, he can still be one of the league's most dangerous point guards. Time will tell if this will be just what the Mavericks needed to reach the next level.
