Forward Miles Bridges could be back in the NBA playing for his previous team, the Charlotte Hornets. Bridges has been out of the NBA since the offseason. He has been under league investigation after being accused of assaulting his partner in front of their two kids in June last year.

Bridges was due for a big payday after a stellar 2021-22 NBA season. He averaged a team and career-high 20.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists, shooting 49.1% from the field for the Hornets. Bridges was among the candidates to lift the Most Improved Player of the Year award, which eventually went to Ja Morant.

The 24-year-old recently revealed his plans to return to the Charlotte Hornets in March. Here's what he told The Associated Press while in attendance at the Michigan State v Indiana game:

“It’s been a long process... I might be back in March.”

Charlotte Hornets GM Mitch Kupchak said a few months ago that the NBA was still investigating the controversial actions of Miles Bridges. He didn't have much to offer in terms of a timeline for his return, saying:

“The NBA is conducting an investigation and I don’t know when that is going to end. When it ends, we’ll have more information and we’ll go from there. I’ll leave it up to you to decide what kind of impact that had on our team this year.”

The Hornets are on the brink of missing out on the playoffs once again. Aside from Bridges' absence, the team was forced to deal with the injury to LaMelo Ball, who had been sidelined for 27 games. Charlotte is 14th in the Eastern Conference with a 17-43 record.

Former Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges pleaded no contest in exchange for three-year probation and no jail time

Just when Miles Bridges found his feet in the NBA, he got caught up in a controversy that could've derailed his career for good. The former lottery pick was accused of assaulting his girlfriend. He pleaded no contest in LA three months ago to a felony count of injuring a child's parent in exchange for three years' probation and no jail time.

As per the agreement, Bridges will have to complete 52 weeks of parenting classes, domestic violence counseling and 100 hours of community service.

Miles Bridges could still face disciplinary action from the NBA upon his potential return to the Charlotte Hornets.
