Kevin Durant return from injury for Phoenix Suns

Kevin Durant's return seems to be right around the corner, according to Shams Charania. Reports emerged this week that Durant was progressing towards a return by the end of March, or the beginning of April at the latest.

Now, however, Shams is reporting that Durant could return Wednesday, March 29th against the Minnesota Timberwolves, slightly ahead of schedule. The return would also see Kevin Durant with seven games to go before the end of the season. With the Phoenix Suns on a two-game losing streak, his return will be a welcome sight.

As he's proven in the past, he can quickly jump right back into the flow of things without missing a beat despite absences due to injury.

Phoenix Suns’ patient approach toward Kevin Durant’s return

Despite the Phoenix Suns struggling in Kevin Durant’s absence, the team has no plans to rush his return to the floor. With the team trying to stave off the Play-In tournament, it’s clear that Durant’s presence on the floor is needed sooner rather than later.

With that said, Suns’ coach Monty Williams believes that there are a lot of boxes that need to be checked before Kevin Durant returns to the court. Just over a week ago, Williams informed media members that Durant was back on the court taking standing shots.

“He hasn’t done anything outside of that. We obviously have to not just be careful, but a lot of boxes need to be checked. So we’ll see how he responds to standard shooting today, we’ll re-evaluate tomorrow and every day is a progression."
“That’s what he’s done. It’s a normal progression to this type of injury and that’s just where he is right now. Now he’s just doing standstill shots.”

With the Suns in danger of falling into Play-In contention, the team will have to be at their best for some big inter-conference matchups between now & the end of the season. The Suns will face off against the Sacramento Kings Friday night as the ‘Beam-Team’ attempts to hand the Suns their third straight loss, while snapping their own two-game skid.
