Malik Beasley, Larsa Pippen and Montana Yeo were the talk of the basketball world at one point because of their love affair. Beasley, who was then playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves, got involved with Pippen, the former wife of Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen.
Beasley was still married to Yao when he had an affair with Pippen. They were spotted together on Nov. 23, 2020 in Miami. The NBA player and his wife were married earlier that year and had a son, Makai, in 2019.
Larsa Pippen wasn't bothered by all the publicity they were causing when the photos came out in December. She posted this on her Instagram account after she and Beasley were endlessly trolled on social media:
“Don’t always trust what you see on social media,” the quote read. “Even salt looks like sugar.”
The statement didn't stay for long before Montana Yao responded:
"This is 100% false. Continue to speak on my name and my relationship and we’re going to have issues. Receipts don’t lie. Let’s not go there. I think you’ve embarrassed yourself enough already."
Yao reportedly filed for divorce right after photos showing Malik Beasley and Larsa Pippen went viral.
In May 2021, Beasley publicly apologized to Montana Yao for cheating on her. He posted a lengthy message to her on Instagram:
"I wana say sorry for putting you in the situation you were put in the last few months.. my head wasn’t were it was supposed to be.. I was looking for more when it was right here that whole time.
"I’m telling the world and you that there’s no body like you for me.. for the record I was the one who ended my last relationship off the fact that there is no one like you."
Malik Beasley capped off his post with:
"I ain’t looking to be judged I’m looking for forgiveness.. To forgive me for hurting my family the way I did. At the end of the day I’m a lover boy and I miss holding y’all and loving y’all.. I love you mu shi .. I love you kai Kai ❤️ my family over thing..."
Yao would later comment on Beasley's message, appreciating his apology.
Malik Beasley and one of Larsa Pippen's sons are now teammates with the LA Lakers
Just before this month's trade deadline, the LA Lakers traded former MVP Russell Westbrook. A three-team deal sent the point guard to the Utah Jazz, while Malik Beasley, who was with the Timberwolves, made his way to Hollywood.
Beasley now shares a locker room with Scotty Pippen Jr., Larsa and Scottie Pippen's eldest son. Pippen Jr., an undrafted rookie, spends most of his time in the G League. Beasley, on the other hand, has not missed a game for the Lakers since the big trade.
LeBron James described their new shooting guard as a "laser." And true enough, Malik Beasley is starting to show his worth.
In Thursday night's game against the Golden State Warriors, he's already scored 25 points on a blistering 7-11 from behind the arc. The awkward situation with Scotty Pippen Jr. notwistanding, he's been everything the Lakers expected and badly-needed.
