Patrick Mahomes is one of the most popular NFL players. He is the quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs and will soon have a chance to win another Super Bowl title as his team will play against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Mahomes, 27, has achieved a lot of success in his professional career. He has already won a Super Bowl title and was named the MVP of the game. However, it seems that the Chiefs quarterback is also following the NBA.

Back in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the 27-year-old wanted the professional basketball league to bring a team to Kansas City. This hasn't happened yet, but it will be interesting to see if the NBA expands to Missouri in the future.

The Kansas City Chiefs have won five championships in total. While three of them were AFL championships, they've also won twice since the AFL-NFL merger. Patrick Mahomes led the team to their latest Super Bowl title in 2020.

The quarterback led his team to their first Super Bowl appearance in 50 years, which was very impressive. Mahomes did not disappoint in the final stages as he beat the San Francisco 49ers.

Mahomes' season was impressive as he became the youngest player to win a Super Bowl and the league MVP. A few months after winning his first championship, the Chiefs quarterback lobbied for an NBA team in Kansas City.

"Bring them to KC [Kansas City]," Patrick Mahomes tweeted in October 2020.

Mahomes' tweet was a response to the relocation of the Toronto Raptors. Since the Raptors are the only NBA team located in Canada, they had to relocate to the United States to be eligible for the 2020-21 season.

Louisville, Kentucky was one of the locations the Raptors considered relocating to. However, the Chiefs quarterback wanted the Canadian NBA team to relocate to Kansas City, a city located 500 miles west of Louisville.

Toronto Raptors ended up relocating to Tampa Bay, Florida

Despite Patrick Mahomes' tweet, the Toronto Raptors ended up relocating to Tampa Bay, Florida. They were the second-best team in the NBA in the 2019-20 season, but their record was awful while playing in the United States.

This comes as no surprise since the Raptors had zero home games during the 2020-21 season.

Playing more than 1,300 miles away from Toronto turned out to be a catastrophe for the Raptors as the team ended the season with a 27-45 record.

Fortunately, they bounced back after returning to Canada and finished the 2021-22 season with 48 wins and 34 losses. Unfortunately, they were eliminated by the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the playoffs.
