Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry has been sidelined for nearly a month, but appears close to returning, according to recent reports.

On Wednesday afternoon, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Warriors are hoping that Curry can return during their road trip next week. During that stretch, they will face the LA Lakers, Memphis Grizzlies and OKC Thunder.

Before getting sidelined with a lower leg injury on Feb. 4, Curry was in the midst of another All-NBA campaign. In 38 games, he is averaging 29.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.4 assists. The Golden State Warriors (32-30) have 20 games remaining on their schedule before the postseason begins.

How did the Golden State Warriors do while Steph Curry was out?

In the nine games that Steph Curry missed due to injury, the Golden State Warriors managed to stay afloat. They went 5-4 in that stretch, including blowout wins against the Portland Trail Blazers, OKC Thunder and Houston Rockets, and have moved up to fifth place in the Western Conference.

Part of why the Warriors were able to survive without Curry is because of a stellar run from Klay Thompson. The former All-Star managed to turn back the clock and perform at a level we are accustomed to seeing.

During the month of February, Thompson averaged 25.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists. On top of this, he shot over 45% from beyond the arc on nearly 12 attempts per game. Injuries might have cost him nearly two years of his career, but the sharpshooting guard appears to be getting hot at the right time.

For the Warriors, getting Curry back as soon as possible is crucial. Not only does he need time to get back in rhythm, but Golden State needs to hold its spot in the standings.

As the regular season comes to a close, the Western Conference standings are air-tight. Right now, only three-and-a-half games separate the fourth seed from the 11th seed.

Golden State finds itself slotted in fifth place right now, but the Warriors have little margin for error. They are tied with the LA Clippers (33-31), and the Dallas Mavericks (32-31) are only half a game behind. One bad week could be the difference between hosting a playoff series or having to making their way through the play-in tournament.

Many have counted out the Warriors this year, but if Curry can get back on track fast, the defending champions will have a shot to make some noise in the playoffs.
