Former NBA player and coach Chris Ford has passed away at the age of 74. The announcement came from the family on Jan. 17, 2023. Chris Ford's wife, Kathy Ford, is left with the four children that they had together. Ford died on Tuesday at a Philadelphia hospital after suffering a heart attack earlier in the month.

Kathy is known to be an incredible person according to all of the media that ever had a chance to work with her. Many around the world are sending their thoughts and prayers to Chris Ford's wife after the unfortunate passing.

The Ford family announced the passing of Chris:

"The Ford family is sad to announce the passing of Chris on January 17, 2023. Chris was beloved by his family, friends, and teammates. He had a great love for his family, the city of Boston, the fans, and the entire Celtics family. He always showed humility and respect for all those that were fortunate enough to be a part of his life."

The Boston Celtics released a statement on the passing:

"He was voted the team’s MVP in his first season with the Celtics, and he is famously credited with scoring the NBA’s first three-point basket. Ford joined an elite group of Celtics’ personnel (Bill Russell, Tom Heinsohn, and K.C. Jones) who have earned championship rings as both a player and coach with the organization. The Boston Celtics sends their deepest sympathies to the Ford family and their many friends."

Chris Ford's wife will now be left with her four beautiful children and the legacy of her late great-husband. During his time on the court and as a coach, he was an NBA Champion, two-time NBA Champion as an assistant coach, and the NBA All-Star Game head coach. Ford attended Villanova and was selected 17th overall in the second round of the 1972 NBA Draft. It's uncertain if Chris Ford's wife was with him during his Villanova days.

During his college career, he scored 16.1 points per game during the 1970 season and advanced his team to the regional finals.
