Damon Stoudamire, also known by the nickname "Mighty Mouse", has been hired by Georgia Tech to be their head coach on a 5-year deal. He started off the regular season as the assistant head coach for the Boston Celtics.

Damon Stoudamire was a former NBA player when he started off his career with the Toronto Raptors as the 7th overall pick in the 1995 NBA draft. He was able to average 19.6 PPG, 8.8 AST, and 4.2 REB.

The former player was then traded to the Portland Trailblazers and played for a total of 7 seasons, until he ended up with the Memphis Grizzlies and finished off his career with the San Antonio Spurs by 2008.


Damon Stoudamire's personal life

Damoun Stoudamire is currently married to Natasha Taylor and the couple currently have two kids, Brandon Stoudamire and Damon Stoudamire Jr.

Damon was born on September 3, 1973, in Portland, Oregon. His father, Willie Stoudamire, left him and the family at an early age, leaving his mother, Liz Washington, along with her mother, Wanda-Stoudamire Matthews, to take care of him and his brother, Cam Stoudamire.

He went to college at the University of of Arizona, wherein, he won Pac-10 Player of the Year in 1995.

Damon Stoudamire's coaching career

When it comes to coaching experience, he started off his coaching career as the director of player development for Rice University and then transitioned to an assistant coaching job for the Memphis Grizzlies, one of the teams he played with in his career.

He also took up assistant coaching positions with the University of Memphis and the University of Arizona and soon landed the head coaching position for the Pacific Tigers for 5 seasons and a total record of 71-77. By 2021, he had accepted an assistant coaching position with the Boston Celtics.

With Damon's coaching experience at the collegiate level, along with his time as an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics, it's easy to see why he was able to land the head coaching position for Georgia Tech.
