Jalen Brunson's father, Rick Brunson, is a former NBA player who now coaches in the league. After gaining a lot of experience in the CBA and NBA during his playing career, Rick helped mould his son Jalen into the basketball star he is today. Jalen was nine years old when his father retired from the league and decided to pursue a coaching career.
The Brunson family had to move locations regularly due to Rick's duties as a basketball player. It was only in 2010, when they moved to Lincolnshire, Illinois, that they finally had a permanent home. By then, Jalen Brunson was already a high school student and was ready to represent his school after training with his father.
