Who is Joe Mazzulla's wife, Camai Mazzulla? Looking at the relationship history of Celtics head coach and his better half

In the wake of the Boston Celtics promoting Joe Mazzulla to head coach, many fans are wondering about Joe Mazzulla's wife. The 34-year-old coach and his wife, Camai Mazzulla met while he was attending West Virginia University, where he played basketball. After graduating, they tied the knot in 2014 and have been together since.

From the sounds of things, the couple have a pretty great relationship and have managed to keep close ties to West Virginia, where they met. After graduating, Mazzulla actually spent three seasons as an assistant coach at West Virginia. After that, he served as an assistant coach in the NBA G League.

When he left West Virginia, he couldn't help but point out how his time as a student helped him meet his wife. He wrote about their relationship, and their time spent growing together during, and after, college, saying:

“I have spent some of my most important years here – my college years and the years of growing emotionally and spiritually after college. I was also very fortunate to meet my beautiful wife, get married, begin growing our family here and purchase our first home. West Virginia has given my family and I experiences that we will forever be grateful for.”

After Mazzulla took an assistant coaching job with the Boston Celtics in 2019, his wife moved with him to Boston to keep their family whole.

This week, it was announced that the Boston Celtics officially signed Joe Mazzulla to a contract extension and promoted him to head coach. The news comes in the midst of former head coach Ime Udoka serving a year-long suspension for violating the team's code of conduct.

At the time of the news breaking regarding Udoka, there was much speculation as to how this season would play out in Boston. The Celtics were fresh off a dominant season that saw them reach the NBA Finals, and many believed Udoka would help them carry that momentum into this season.

Once he was suspended, it was Mazzulla who was promoted to interim head coach. Under his guidance, and despite the team's starting five being pretty banged up as of late, the Celtics lead the Eastern Conference. With that, Mazzulla has been named as the head coach of Team Giannis for the upcoming All-Star game.

Celtics President Brad Stevens released a written statement on Mazzulla's new contract, reported by USA Today Sports:

"As he has shown, Joe is a very talented coach and leader. He has a unique ability to galvanize a room around a mission. We are thankful for the work he has done to help get us to this point, and excited that he has agreed to lead us into the future."

As Mazzulla gears up for the NBA's All-Star weekend, and the remainder of the season, his wife will be right there by his side cheering him on.
