Who is Kris Parker, and which college has he committed to? Looking at career of 4-star guard from Crossroad Academy

Alabama v Tennessee
Alabama Crimson Tide coach Nate Oats

Kris Parker announced his decision to play for Alabama over Villanova, Missouri and UCF on Friday, becoming the fourth player in the Crimson Tide's 2023 class.

The Florida native joins a team with a system that is perfectly suited for his game. He is an underrated prospect who is ranked in the 65-85 range on must scouting boards. His upside is so strong, and Alabama should be excited about the potential that Kris Parker possesses.

"I'll say it is a big guard," Parker told on3 when asked to explain his game. "I can shoot it, get to the basket, and I'm quicker than expected. I chose Alabama because I think (coach) Nate Oats really believes in me, and he consistently recruited me even when a lot of other coaches gave up on me."

Kris Parker, a sizeable shooting guard with good ball skills, is an above-average athlete who can get after it on both ends. He has good mobility, and his lateral movement has helped him develop playmaking ability. He has the potential to be an even better R.J. Davis (a North Carolina guard). He can seemingly score at will and can be an even better distributing combo guard in the Crimson Tide system.

As Parker, from Crossroad Academy in Quincy, Florida, becomes a more consistent shooter, he will be an honest guard as a lot of defenders will not be able to stay in front of him. Typically, they will try to bait him into shooting. Parker will realize that he has to become a better shooter sooner rather than later for Oats to have him on the floor. Defensively, this is where Parker will make his money.

His frame (6-foot-7, 185 pounds) has made the four-star prospect one of the better two-way players in the 2023 class. As that frame develops and he can show what he can do in the dribble handoff with the lanky big men the Crimson Tide have, people will then see the value of Parker as well.

When Brandon Miller leaves, Parker will come in as a tweener. However, he can handle the ball as a guard, and with his elite size he is also comfortable at small forward as well.

The Crimson Tide and Oats continue to win on and off the court. Now, can they finish the year strong before they bring in their high-level recruiting class?
