Who is Malik Beasley's wife, Montana Yao? Exploring their rocky relationship timeline

New LA Lakers player Malik Beasley has had a rocky relationship with his wife, Montana Yao. Beasley and Yao first met in 2018. Their first child, Makai, was born on March 16, 2019. The couple got married in March 2020, as per US Magazine. However, it didn't take long for their relationship to hit a significant roadblock.

On December 1, 2020, Montana filed for separation after pictures of Beasley and Scottie Pippen's ex-wife Larsa Pippen surfaced online. The former Timberwolves guard was seen holding hands with Larsa. Like everybody else, Montana was blindsided by those images. Here's what she said at the time about the situation via an Instagram post (h/t Page Six):

“I’ve always and will forever remain true to who I am and GOD has never let me down. The truth always comes out one way or another…”

Yao added:

“Wow… I don’t even know this man… this is wild y’all I’m seeing it for the first time just like y’all.”

Shortly after the scandal made headlines, Yao Montana claimed Malik Beasley had asked her to leave their home with their two-year-old son in 10 days. She thanked her supporters through the rough patch on Instagram, captioning the post, saying:

"Hey y’all I just wanted to say THANK YOU so much for your tremendous love and support during this time... Things have been pretty rough, I’m not going to lie.”

She added:

“I mainly wanted to say, I have never received so many kind words of encouragement and love, and it has really held me up to be strong for not only myself, but more importantly for my son... I’m sorry I haven’t been able to respond to each and every one of you, but just know I have read almost every single message, comment, etc.”

Beasley ended things with Pippen in May 2021 and publicly apologized to Montana a month later. He took to Instagram to make his feelings known. Here's what Beasly posted:

The two had another child in 2022, a daughter, on November 11. They frequently post images of each other and seem to have found a way to rekindle their relationship since the controversy that caused their separation in December 2020.

Malik Beasley teams up with ex-Larsa Pippen's son with LA Lakers

Malik Beasley was in the spotlight again after he got traded to the LA Lakers at the trade deadline. The sharpshooter has teamed up with his ex Larsa Pippen's son Scottie Pippen Jr. on the Lakers. The latter is on a two-way contract with the team.

Pippen impressed with his stellar showing for the Lakers in the Summer League after going undrafted. He played six games for LA in a sporadic role. Pippen may not get to play in the NBA following Beasley and the other additions coming into the picture.

Mailk Beasley has helped the team resolve their woes from the 3-point range and is an integral part of their setup, donning a starting role over the last two games.
