Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic

Despite winning back-to-back MVPs the previous two seasons, Nikola Jokic may be having the best season of his career in 2022-2023. Prior to becoming one of the most talented players in the NBA, the Denver Nuggets star was born in Sombor, Serbia. While not much is known about his mother, Jokic's father, Branislav Jokic, was an agricultural engineer.

The five-time All-Star has two older brothers, Strahinja Jokic and Nemanja Jokic, who are often seen courtside at Nuggets games supporting their star brother. While Nikola was not initially into basketball and spent much of his youth riding horses, once he began to grow into his 6'11 frame, Branislav and his wife realized the potential that their son could have in the sport of basketball.

It is safe to say that Jokic's parents made the right choice as the four-time All-NBA selection has become one of the best players of the modern generation. Furthermore, Jokic has used his skills to obtain generational wealth as he has already earned a staggering $150 million.

Following the 2022-2023 season, his five-year, $272 million contract extension will kick in bringing his career earnings north of $420 million. Jokic, who turned 28 years old on All-Star Sunday, will likely be able to earn another massive payday before walking away from the sport.
