The Phoenix Suns and LA Clippers open their season against each other on Wednesday night at the newly built Intuit Dome. The division rivals endured similar results last season after suffering early exits in the playoffs last year. Since then, a lot has gone right for Phoenix, but LA seems to have gone into a downward spiral.
The Suns fixed a few of their woes by hiring coach Mike Budenholzer and signing Tyus Jones to run point guard. Meanwhile, the Clippers lost Paul George in free agency for no return, while Kawhi Leonard isn't healthy to start the season. The lone bright spot for them was extending coach Ty Lue's contract this summer. Health was among Phoenix and LA's most prominent issues last year.
The Suns couldn't get their big three, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, on the floor for prolonged stretches. On the other hand, the Clippers had a relatively healthy regular season, but Leonard went down with a knee injury late in the year, which extended through their first-round series. He never returned to full fitness, and the Clippers suffered another early exit.
