Popovich's political comments receive interesting reactions

What's the story?

The legendary San Antonio Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich has been intrepid and candid with his political comments and has received trinkets and gifts for them.

In case you didn't know...

Popovich intrigued everybody this October by calling the current President of the United States of America a "soulless coward". This was not the first time though that he had fired shots at the Donald Trump as he called the United States "an embarrassment to the world", when Trump criticized NFL players who protested racial inequality and police brutality by kneeling during the national anthem.

The heart of the matter...

The 68-year-old has been honest about his opinions with the media. When asked about the feedback he has received for his comments, he replied sarcastically, "Every single person has agreed with everything I've said. I get flowers. I get trinkets and gifts," according to ESPN's Michael C.Wright.

He did finally come out telling the true nature of the feedback he has received. "Just as you would expect: A little bit of both, right? A lot of both," he said. "Some responses make you wonder what country you live in, and other responses make you very hopeful.

He was rather impressed that people who disagree with him are open to conversations as he commented "But there's a lot more hopeful than, 'My gosh, how did this person come up with this?' So overall, it renews my feeling that something can be done because there are enough people willing to listen and feel and compromise."

He has already received recommendations from his rivals around the league, one of them being the Golden State Warriors player-head coach duo of Stephen Curry and Steve Kerr who said earlier that they would vote for Popovich if he ran for President making his own bid for the position following the end of his coaching career.

The Spurs(9-5) fly to Minnesota to play the Timberwolves(8-5) to start their first of the 5 game road trip.

Its great to have people like Pop who are forthright about their opinions and surely good to see people open to having conversations even if they don't agree with the comments.
