Derrick Rose's ankles of glass. What next?

Will the injury god spare him ever?

MVP once, liability now. The tale of this elite is so unfortunate that I would not wish it on the worst of my enemies. The athleticism of this superstar was once unparalleled. Being drafted as a first overall pick in 2008 by the Chicago Bulls is no joke. Soon he took over the league and earned the prestigious MVP title for the 2010-2011 season and then Rose signed a five-year contract extension with the Bulls for $94.8 million in 2011.

The 2nd dunk in this video remains in my memories forever.

The curse began on 12th November 2013, when he had a sore right hamstring following a catastrophic right knee surgery that forced him a season miss. The fans expected a power-packed return to the following season. Rose started very well but the curse was for real. He got stuck with 5 different injuries within a period of 2 months namely a sprained ankle, strained left hamstring and even illness. He had his torn ACL operated on 12th May 2012. This led to missing a total of 257 matches.

After years of frustration from inability to recover, he got traded to New York Knicks in June 2016 along with Justin Holiday giving a new hope to team up with Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis. On April 2, 2017, he was ruled out for the rest of the season after tearing the meniscus in his left knee, necessitating a fourth round of knee surgery for Rose in his nine-year career.

This is a summary of his injuries given by Fox Sports:

A breakthrough not anticipated by any of the NBA experts took place when Cleveland Cavaliers took in Derrick Rose & Isaiah Thomas with its star-packed team but his demise was not done yet and got his ankle injured again playing against the Milwaukee Bucks. On 24th November Rose decided to reconsider his will to continue playing.

Rose has been brought back after several talks and his glass ankles are recovering well. He is expected to start with Isiah Thomas on Christmas against GSW where Stephen Curry is on rest.
