Golden State Warriors Rumors: Defending champs acquire veteran guard, big man in proposed 3-team trade

The Golden State Warriors are a game below .500 halfway through the season. Their recent loss to the struggling and depleted Phoenix Suns might be a sign for the defending champions to make a trade. The latest rumors suggest the acquisition of a veteran guard and big man in a proposed three-team trade.

Jack Simone of Heavy Sports believes that losing Gary Payton II, Nemanja Bjelica and Otto Porter Jr. affected the Warriors. Their young prospects being unable to fill the roles left by the three players could force the Warriors front office to make a trade.

Simone suggested a three-team trade involving the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat. The Warriors would receive Max Strus from the Heat and Dwight Powell from the Mavericks. Dallas would get Kyle Lowry, James Wiseman and a Warriors first-round pick, while JaMychal Green, Donte DiVincenzo, Tim Hardaway Jr. and a Warriors second-round pick would head to Miami.

Jack Simone went on to explain that Max Strus could help the Golden State Warriors' second unit. Strus is averaging 13.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists for the Miami Heat this season.

Losing Donte DiVincenzo might hurt the Warriors defensively, but Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody could step up. Meanwhile, Dwight Powell is a reliable backup big man who's an upgrade to James Wiseman at the moment.

Kyle Lowry could fill the void left by Jalen Brunson in Dallas, while the Heat add depth. With the trade deadline fast approaching, it will be interesting to see what the three teams are planning.

Golden State Warriors hesitant to part ways with their young players

Brett Siegel of FanNation and C.J. Holmes of the San Francisco Chronicle recently shared some inside information from the Golden State Warriors. They discussed on The Fast Break podcast (h/t Heavy Sports) that the Warriors are not looking to part ways with Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody and James Wiseman.

"Based on the information I have and have gathered, it seems like this organization and front office is more than willing to sit back and watch other teams make moves unless they get an offer that they cannot refuse," Siegel said. "It just does not feel like James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga or Moses Moody are available right now."

Holmes added that the Golden State Warriors still believe in Wiseman despite his struggles this season. Wiseman, the second overall pick in 2020, has been disappointing most of the time. He even spent more than a month in the G League to get some game time.

"Based on what I am hearing, I don't envision them making any moves," Holmes said. "I don't think they are ready to give up on James Wiseman yet. They have seen the slow progress he has made, and Bob Myers' two-timeline plan is still alive and well. They are riding this thing out."
