The Los Angeles Lakers' star power forward Anthony Davis has been rumored to be part of a potential trade. The Dallas Mavericks are reportedly considering Davis as they plan for the next season.

Conversations have been ignited after Lakers' surprising loss against the Denver Nuggets in Game 4. Even though Davis had an impressive season, rumors of a potential trade have persisted, leading many to contemplate if this could potentially end his partnership with LeBron James.

Notably, during a recent appearance on Fox Sports Radio, sports commentator Colin Cowherd raised the issue of James alleged frustrations with coach Darvin Ham's coaching style and Anthony Davis lack of accountability.

Cowherd argued that pursuing Davis would provide the Mavericks with a defensive anchor to cover the likes of Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic.

"Dallas would love AD. He solves all their issues. He gives them a second score. He's not at all ball dependent. Luca gives you the 70 games and the consistent energy.
"Anthony scores 23 without really setting up plays for him. He gives them a rim protector. I heard at the trading deadline Dallas has their eye on Anthony Davis."

Cowherd continued:

"The Lakers, they think Le Bron still has a soft spot for Kyrie Irving. I think the Lakers and The Mavericks, you will hear in the next month something, I really believe that and I think you have to take the phone call and listen."

For the Mavericks, acquiring Davis would require careful consideration of the assets they are willing to part with. They would also need to address the concerns that led the Lakers to consider moving on from Davis. It would be crucial for the Mavericks to navigate these issues and ensure they are comfortable with the potential trade.

The Mavericks have been eyeing the opportunity to acquire Davis and may have the assets to make it happen. With their 2023 first-round pick set to be conveyed to the New York Knicks, the Mavericks would have additional first-round picks to offer.

However, a potential trade could also involve the Lakers taking on players like Tim Hardaway Jr. or even exploring the option of involving a third team in the deal.

On the Lakers' side, moving Davis would require cautious manoeuvring due to their limited assets. The question arises: Could the Lakers find a suitable replacement for LeBron James through a separate trade after parting ways with Davis? This aspect would play a pivotal role in their decision-making process.

As the offseason approaches, the NBA community eagerly awaits to see how the Anthony Davis trade rumours unfold. If the Mavericks manage to acquire the talented big man, it could significantly alter the dynamics of both teams.
