Eric Gordon is having the worst season of his 14-year professional basketball career. He is clearly not happy with the Houston Rockets, but the team rejected a trade offer from the Milwaukee Bucks for him.

Gordon is a 6-foot-3 guard who is a reliable 3-point shooter and can be used as a secondary ball handler. The Rockets are at the very bottom of the standings, which is why trading him would make a lot of sense.

Unfortunately, it appears that the Bucks don't have what it takes to acquire the veteran guard. The Rockets are tanking and want a first-round pick for Gordon, but that may not be something they can get from the Eastern Conference team.

Why the Milwaukee Bucks offer for Eric Gordon was rejected by the Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets are currently 10-36 and are at rock bottom in the standings. To make the situation worse, the Rockets are currently on a 13-game losing streak, the sixth-longest losing streak in franchise history.

Eric Gordon is not happy with the team and probably wouldn't mind getting traded. He's the only remaining player from the 2018 team that was one win away from making it to the NBA Finals.

The Milwaukee Bucks, on the other hand, are 29-17 and the third-best team in the East. Despite being without Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Bucks are still one of the best teams in the league and one of the favorites to win the title.

The Eastern Conference team offered four second-round picks for Gordon, which is what the Rockets turned down. According to Marc Stein, they want a first-round pick, which is something the Bucks cannot give them until 2028.

The Bucks do not have first-round picks until 2028

The Rockets are two more losses away from having the third-longest losing streak in franchise history and it's obvious that they don't want to compete. The positive side, however, is that they have a young talented roster to rebuild around.

Unfortunately, the Bucks do not have a first-round pick until 2028 and 2029. While these picks may be very valuable in the future, the Rockets may not be willing to wait for at least five more years to add another talented young player.

Gordon is averaging a career-low 12.3 points per game in the 2022-23 season and would benefit from a change of scenery. Considering that he is in the final years of his career, he wants to win a championship.

The veteran guard is in the third year of his four-year contract with the Rockets. However, the fourth year is not guaranteed and he will get it if he makes an All-Star team or if the Rockets win a championship, which most certainly won't happen.
