Shannon Sharpe questions Kevin Durant's claim of putting the league on notice by backing Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo

Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets have been taking the league by storm. The superstar forward believes that the league is starting to realize just how dangerous his team can be.

Brooklyn started out the 2022-23 season in disappointing fashion. After starting out 2-6 and 9-11 and struggling to generate any momentum, the pieces started to come together. Brooklyn went 16-1, including winning 12 straight games to skyrocket up the Eastern Conference standings.

The Nets saw their winning streak come to an end in a 121-112 loss on Wednesday night against the Chicago Bulls. Despite the defeat, Durant expressed optimism, saying "the league is always on notice with the talent we have."

On "Undisputed," analyst Shannon Sharpe agreed that the Nets should have the league's attention. But Sharpe also questioned how good Brooklyn will be when they have to go up against some of the elite talents in the East.

“You should be worried about Brooklyn, but the question is, in a seven-game series, how do you deal with (Joel) Embiid, Giannis (Antetokounmpo) and that law firm of (Jayson) Tatum and (Jaylen) Brown?”

The recent stretch of play from the Brooklyn Nets (25-13) has put them back as a force in the Eastern Conference. After not reaching .500 until Nov. 28, Brooklyn is tied for second in the East.

The Nets were 2-6 on Nov. 1, losing that night after parting ways with coach Steve Nash eariler in the day, trending in the wrong direction. Since then, even with absorbing an eight-game suspension to Kyrie Irving, Brooklyn has had a remarkable turnaround with Jacque Vaughn running the show.

Brooklyn looks to be regaining its status as a potential title contender in the Eastern Conference. To cement themselves as a legit threat, the Nets will have to eventually deal with teams such as the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks. Brooklyn has split two games with Milwaukee, but lost one game apiece to Boston and the Philadelphia 76ers.

Superstar forward Kevin Durant has been sensational during Brooklyn's recent impressive stretch. In his last 12 games, Durant is averaging 30.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He is also shooting 60.1%, including 42.2% from 3-point range, during that span.
