Press Release/New Delhi, 26th Oct 2013: The Indian Women contingent that were part of the training-cum-preparation camp in Dongguan, China from 15th to 25th October 2013, where they won all of their four practice matches against various Chinese club teams, will be playing their first game of the 25th FIBA ASIA Championship (Bangkok, Thailand) against Chinese Taipei on 27th October 2013.
The 25th FIBA Asia Championship for Women will be played from 27th October to 3rd November 2013 in Bangkok, Thailand. The tournament will begin with 12 teams divided into two groups (Level I and Level II). Team India has been placed in Level I group, based on their finish in the 24th edition of the Championship, and has China, Korea, Japan, Kazakhstan and Chinese Taipei as their opponents. India plays Korea on 28th October and defending champion China on 29th October. Team India will play the final two matches of their preliminary round against Japan and Kazakhstan on 30th and 31st October, respectively.
Head Coach Francisco Garcia along with Coach Abdul Hameed Khan will be leading the Indian contingent to Bangkok, Thailand.
