The 5 Best Brother Combos Playing in the NBA Right Now

Marcus Morris (Left) and Markieff Morris (Right)

4. Marcus and Markieff Morris

The Morris twins are different from the Lopez twins in the sense that they have both performed at a roughly comparable level in the NBA. This is as opposed to certain other brother pairings in which the lion's share of the tandem is enjoyed one of the siblings. Their roughly similar contributions have ensured that they enjoy a comparatively higher ranking on our list. The Morris twins took college basketball by storm at Kansas when they evolved into a two-man wrecking crew at the center position for the Jayhawks, tearing opposition defenses apart while anchoring themselves firmly at the heart of their own team's defense.

In their first year in the NBA, both Marcus and Markieff put up eerily similar stat lines: 7.3 PPG, 4.3 RPG and 1.1 APG for Markieff and 7.1 PPG, 3.3 RPG and 0.7 APG for Marcus.

Markieff has had the more consolidated career of the two- playing for the Phoenix Suns for 6 of his 7 seasons in the NBA. For the first two of those seasons, Morris was locked in battle with Marcin Gortat for the Center position for the Suns. The healthy competition pushed him to post better stat lines- matching game and career scoring highs of 22 points (Tied with Gortat at the time), before going on to record better scoring games and grabbing a career-high 17 rebounds in the game versus the Dallas Mavericks in his sophomore NBA season. Markieff has, over the course of his career, established himself as a reliable player who is capable of both anchoring the defense, grabbing rebounds and contributing to the offensive endeavors of the team, while being injury free. He is a reliable, injury-free player that teams can bank on for consistently satisfactory performances. He currently plays for the Washington Wizards in the Eastern Conference, where they are looking to engage in a tussle for dominance against the Celtics, especially since King James is headed to the West to play for the Lakers.

Marcus, on the other hand, has been more of a journeyman. However, this has not been a hindrance in him contributing just as much as his brother has to the league and the teams which he has played for. Drafted by the Rockets, Marcus was initially assigned to the NBA D League to further his development and rarely got game time in his rookie season. However, by the time his sophomore season rolled out, he saw himself being utilized as a backup for Patrick Patterson and nearly tripled his three-point shooting from a paltry 12% to a really commendable 38%. He even played with his brother Markieff for two seasons in Phoenix! While in Phoenix, Marcus recorded career highs in rebounds AND scoring in the same game! With a 34 point, 12 rebound game, he also became only the second player, after, *ahem* *ahem* Brook Lopez, to record a 30 point, 10 rebound double-double off the bench. He has gone on to represent the Detroit Pistons, playing for whom he grabbed his current career scoring high of 37 points, and the Boston Celtics, whom he anchors the Center position for.
