NBA Free Agency: Top 4 Free Agents Still On The Market

Miami Heat v Indiana Pacers
Dwyane Wade

We all know how crazy this year's free agency was, and from LeBron James to DeMarcus Cousins, the 2018 NBA free agency will be something to remember for a while. While most teams have solidified their roster for the 2018 season, there are still plenty of players left that could potentially join teams during the season.

Here are the top 4 remaining free agents, in my opinion, in no particular order,

#1 Jamal Crawford

Golden State Warriors v Minnesota Timberwolves
Golden State Warriors v Minnesota Timberwolves

The 3-time 6th Man of the Year is still unsigned and it's unclear why. Sure, he isn't a player who can be relied on to carry the team and lead in points, but he certainly can be reliable coming off the bench and showing a young core how it's done in the league.

Crawford has played for several teams, his last being the Minnesota Timberwolves. During his time there, he averaged 10.3 PPG with an FG% of .415. However, his minutes per game dramatically reduced while with the Timberwolves. In his last season with the L.A. Clippers, he averaged 26.3 minutes with the team.

In the 80 games Crawford played for the Wolves, he averaged 20.7 minutes which could indicate to why his PPG fell last season. What Crawford does best is make shots that would otherwise look tough. It would be a shocker if he isn't signed with a team before the start of the season.

#2 Rodney Hood

Cleveland Cavaliers v Boston Celtics
Rodney Hood

Rodney Hood was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in February from the Utah Jazz. While his role with the team seemed big, it slowly diminished and at one point, Hood refused to enter a playoff game. Hood has plenty left to show in the league, as he was coming off his best season in Utah before being traded off to Cleveland.

The Cavaliers supposedly have plans to reintroduce him into the team for the 2018-2019 season, but talks have been slow. A $3.47 million qualifying offer was given to him, which made him a restricted free agent. It's most likely that he will sign the offer to play in Cleveland for another year and then become an unrestricted free agent and get a deal he likes.

#2 Dwyane Wade

Philadelphia 76ers v Miami Heat - Game Four
Dwyane Wade

Nobody knows what Wade's plans are- is he going to retire? Come back for one more season with the Miami Heat? Or will he accept a deal offered to him to play in China? Either way, he is probably the best free agent available as of now.

Wade spent time with the Cleveland Cavaliers before returning to the Miami Heat in a trade agreement. When he joined the Cavaliers, it seemed as if the duo of LeBron James and Wade would make the Cavs an even bigger threat, but those theories were shut down once the season started as Wade would come off the bench for most games.

Wade returned to the Heat in exchange for a second-round pick.

Having played for 15 years in the league, Wade should play one last full season with the Heat. With a potential of being in the playoffs and leading a young core, the Heat are willing to bring him back but there seems to be some communication gaps between him and the front office. If he joins any other team but the Heat, that will come as a surprise.

#4 Joe Johnson

Denver Nuggets v Utah Jazz
Denver Nuggets v Utah Jazz

The 37-year-old shooting guard has been in the league for 17 years, playing for 7 different teams. His last teams were the Utah Jazz and the Houston Rockets, while he was also a member of the Sacremento Kings for just 3 days before being waived after being traded. He certainly isn't a player to look at immediately, but when called upon, he can deliver.

Johnson will likely be signed by a team mid-season or he could retire, but nothing is certain about those plans as of now. Similar to Vince Carter, Johnson has yet to be an NBA Champion. Hopefully, this occurs in the upcoming season considering his accomplishments in 17 years of playing in the NBA.
