Top 5 NBA Finals in the past decade

2) Los Angeles Lakers vs. Boston Celtics, 2010

The Lakers celebrating after winning their second consecutive championship in 2010

Not a lot changed from 2008 to 2010 for the Lakers and the Celtics; they more or less had the same players, the same coaches and the same assistant coaches. The few things that changed were Kobe Bryant’s leadership and the 2009 championship trophy in Staples Center.

The rivalry continued as the Lakers were trying to win their second consecutive championship. Kobe had learnt from his past and was ready as ever to bring down the Celtics. He was passing the ball for a change and making his teammates better. The Lakers won 4-3 with a nail-biting performance in game 7.

The clutch plays for the night included Bryant’s tough pass to newly acquired Ron Artest to drain the three ball and Sasha Vujacic’s game-sealing free throws. It was an epic series that put an end to the Lakers-Celtics rivalry of our era. With Celtic’s big three disbanded and Kobe’s career clock ticking, we don’t know if/when we’ll see another chapter to the most famous rivalry in NBA history.

1) Miami Heat vs. San Antonio Spurs, 2013

Allen's Clutch three to push Game 6 to OT in the 2013 finals

What happens when you put together LeBron James, Tim Duncan, Dwayne Wade, Tony Parker, Ray Allen and Manu Ginobili together on the court to fight for a trophy?

- You get a mind blowing NBA finals series.

This seven game series was about plays that would leave you excited for the whole day after the match. Shots that would make you jump off your couch and shout with awe.

There was no way this series could be put anywhere below #1 on this countdown. We saw a collision of teams, as a whole, where everyone was performing. It wasn’t just about the aforementioned stars. We saw upcoming players like Kwahi Leonard, Patty Mills and Danny Green giving significant contributions on the Spurs front whereas the Heat gained support from their secondary stars including Mario Chalmers, Mike Miller and Shane Battier.

The series opened with Tony Parker hitting a ridiculous clutch bucket to bag Game 1. While trying to run down the clock, he almost lost the ball on three different occasions but ended up flushing the jumper to get the win.

Game 6 of the 2013 finals can probably be enthroned as the best NBA finals game. Ray Allen hit a beautiful clutch three from a remarkable offensive rebound by Chris Bosh to send the game to OT. That’s just what Ray Allen does. If you’re down three points in the final seconds of an important game, there’s no one else you’d rather have in that corner position. The series ended with Heat defeating the Spurs 4-3 and LeBron winning his second championship and MVP award.

Will the 2015 finals series join this list of epics?

Well, it certainly has the ingredients to do so. We have amazing players on both teams with the greatest player in the world facing off against the regular season MVP. We certainly expect this series to go six to seven games because both teams are going to bring their A-game. Additionally, both teams are hungry for a championship since Cleveland has never won one and Golden State hasn’t in forty years. We’re all waiting for 5th June, 6:30 am.
