The Miami Heat are a force to be reckoned with in this year's postseason, even without the presence of one of their reliable scorers, Tyler Herro. Herro fractured his right hand during Game 1 of the first-round series against the Milwaukee Bucks. He has been sidelined since the injury with the rest of the team's scorers stepping up in his absence.
His recovery timeline was at 4-6 weeks, in time for a return to the lineup if Miami advances to the finals. However, according to "Underdog NBA," Tyler Herro is unlikely to return to the team as the timetable is now uncertain.
His absence has not bothered the Heat during their playoff run as they hold the second-ranked offense in the postseason with a 117.5 rating.
However, this injury update comes off as a disappointment to Miami Heat fans as Tyler Herro is still considered an important piece to the team. Outside of Jimmy Butler, Herro also provides that quality shotmaking ability that other players on the roster do not have. Herro also makes things easier for Butler at the offensive end as he does not have to carry that much load.
With the role players continuing to deliver, Tyler Herro's availability would have made this team even more of a threat at the offensive end.
During the Heat's last ball game against the Celtics, they shot the ball incredibly well as they scored 128 points to the Celtics' 102 points. They shot 56.8%, including 54.3% from 3-point range. Gabe Vincent and Duncan Robinson combined for 51 points in Herro's absence.
The Miami Heat have been going through some injuries in the playoffs other than Herro's situation. Victor Oladipo has been out for the season since his ruptured quadriceps tendon injury in Game 3 against the Bucks. Another recent injury to the Heat is Kevin Love, when he sustained a left ankle injury in Game 3 against the Celtics.
However, on a promising note, Love is listed as probable for tonight's matchup against Boston. He left Game 3 early as the injury occurred with just three minutes into the game before heading to the team's locker room.
Tyler Herro's numbers in the 2022-23 regular season
Herro was having another good season playing for the Heat before sustaining the injury in the playoffs. Tyler Herro finished the regular season averaging 20.1 points (43.9% shooting, 37.8% from 3-point range) and 5.4 rebounds.
Before sustaining his injury in Game 1, he was having himself quite a game. Tyler had 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including 2-of-4 from 3-point range.
