Jain University’s Kaif Zia tries to score a point

Jain University and Bharathiar University impress

Chennai, 13th January 2015: Jain University, Bengaluru and Bharathiar University, Coimbatore continued their winning ways from the opening day to go on top of their respective pools in the UBA All India Inter University Basketball Tournament for Men 2015. After staying neck and neck with Jain University for three quarters, University of Rajasthan fell victim to a barrage of late fast break conversions by Jain’s Kaif Zia who had a mammoth 39 points in the game.

South zone’s third placed team Bharathiar University, Coimbatore made a mockery of the All India seedings by upsetting West Zone’s top placed side Bharati Vidya Peet University, Pune. Similar to their Bengaluru brethren, Bharathiar outscored their opponents in the fourth quarter for the exciting win.

In the other two outdoor matches this morning, MG Kasi Vidyapeeth University, Varanasi and University of Delhi put behind tough opening day losses to register their first wins of this All India Tournament.

In a late evening game yesterday, hosts and reigning Indian College Basketball League Champions Sathyabama University exploded in the second half against Shivaji University, Kolhapur to cross the three digit scoring mark for a lopsided first win. Joining them on the winning side was Punjab University which beat University of Rajasthan 82-68.
