UBA Pro Basketball League Season 3: Chennai Slam defeat Hyderabad Sky 107-93

Chennai Slam outplayed Hyderabad Sky 107-93 in the third edition of the UBA Professional basketball league, at the badminton court, in Balewadi sports complex in Pune on Thursday. Chennai’s Longi Gobum along with Vignesh better known as `Vikki’ turned the tables on Hyderabad as Chennai after a lethargic start gave their rivals run for their money converting three-pointers as Chennai levelled the score 21-21 after being on the receiving for most of the time in the first ten minutes of the game.

The former champions, Chennai retired their first session of play on a happy note with three points ahead of Hyderabad.

Hyderabad held an upper hand in the field goals and free throws, but they did not manage to attempt three-pointers during the session. Skipper Mahesh was perfect with the field goals converting all the three attempts he had, while M Thomas performed exceptionally well with rebounds.

Chennai continued from where they had left and continued to dominate, with Gopal excelling in jump shots along with Jairam . And at the half way mark they were sitting pretty at 64-54. Both the teams brought in fresh pair of legs as all the players in the bench were seen in action except Suijit Reddy of Hyderabad Tanvir Logani of Chennai

Chennai looked a better side and completely a different side that played their last match against Haryana where they lost 100-109.

“Agu Sheriff Chuwunanu is the main play maker and I am sure he will be the best player of this season as well, said the Chennai coach Prasanna Jayshankar, who coached the Bangalore team last year. Chennai n notched up their second century for the second time

Hyderabad were aggressive in their approach as they did against Punjab in their encounter wherein they ended up in the losing side. Chennai were ten points ahead with just over two minutes for the final whistle, and signed off their assignment with a 107-93 final verdict.
