DJ Rodman is the son of NBA legend Dennis Rodman

Chicago Bulls legend Dennis Rodman’s son, Dennis Thayne "DJ" Rodman Jr. is a college basketball player for the Washington State Cougars of the Pac-12 Conference.

DJ Rodman surely has some heavy expectations placed on him considering who his father is. However, his game is far different from Dennis Rodman, with his mid-range shooting being the strongest part of his game with scope for improvement in ball handling and quickness.

As of 2021-2022, his junior season, he averaged 4.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. In his senior season, he started 17 games and averaged 9.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.

Looking at his career stats, DJ has an overall field goal percentage of .404 and an average of 4.9 points per game through 98 appearances. He has also averaged 3.7 rebounds, 0.8 assists, and 0.6 steals per game.

In his freshman season at Washington State, DJ received sparse playing time, but his minutes increased after Tony Miller's ankle injury. He averaged 1.7 points and 1.9 rebounds per game in his freshman season, which was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

DJ's sister Trinity Rodman is also a successful athlete, playing as a forward for the Washington Spirit of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) and the United States women's national soccer team. At the age of 18, she became the youngest drafted player in National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) history after being selected second in the 2021 NWSL College Draft.

DJ Rodman’s game is far different from his father Dennis Rodman

DJ Rodman might be almost two meters tall, but still has work to do on various aspects of his game. This includes tenacity, defensive work, and overall physicality. As his statistics suggest, the player is far different from Dennis Rodman and also needs to improve his shooting in order to be an NBA prospect.

Now 21 years old, he has had the option of declaring for the NBA draft since 2021. However, DJ is currently training hard and working to improve his game. While the NBA might be some distance away, the player surely has potential, and might as well become a decent 3-point shooter in the future.

DJ has a 3-point field goal percentage of .350 and a free throw percentage of .740. Of course, DJ emulating the levels that the Chicago Bulls legend reached appears unlikely at the moment.

Apart from the fact that DJ is currently not as big an offensive threat, his defensive abilities need work if he is to make it to the NBA like Dennis Rodman did.
