Harvey Grant, Jerami Grant's father, is a very interesting figure. Long before his son became an NBA star, Harvey dominated the basketball league and was one of the most talented forwards in it.

Jerami has become one of the most prolific scorers in the NBA in the past few seasons. He currently plays for the Portland Trail Blazers, the same team his father played for nearly three decades ago.

Jerami Grant's father Harvey played in the NBA for more than a decade

Harvey Grant was born on July 4, 1965, and is the twin brother of Horace Grant. Many NBA fans remember Horace as he won three championship rings with Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls and one ring with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Jerami Grant's father wasn't as successful as his brother. He still did a great job in the NBA, playing for three different teams in 11 years. Harvey Grant entered the league as the 12th overall pick in the 1988 NBA draft.

Grant was selected by the Washington Bullets and played mostly off the bench in his rookie season. The 6-foot-8 forward appeared in 71 games, averaging 5.6 points and 2.3 rebounds.

The young star kept improving and by his third year, he averaged 18.2 points and 7.2 rebounds. He became a starter that season and was the second-best scorer on the Bullets, behind Bernand King.

Harvey was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers in the summer of 1993, where his son presently plays. The forward averaged 9.6 points and 4.4 rebounds in three years in Rip City.

Grant's father played for the Bullets again in 1996-97 and also for Washington's NBA team when it was renamed the Wizards. In 1999, he played for the Philadelphia 76ers.


Jerami Grant's professional career

Jerami Grant's father's career ended in Philadelphia, the city his son was drafted by in 2014. Grant then played for the Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets before joining the Detroit Pistons.

The 6-foot-8 forward had some of the best games of his career in Detroit, averaging 20.9 points throughout the two seasons. He joined the Portland Trail Blazers a few months ago, where he's also had amazing performances.

Grant is averaging a career-high 22.5 points this season. He is one of the most efficient 3-point shooters in the league, converting 45.1% of his long-range shots.
