The reigning Defensive Player of the Year proposed to his longtime girlfriend, but decided to have some fun with things. Before making the announcement, he sent out a cryptic tweet that sent Celtics fans into a frenzy.

A few minutes later, he relayed the full messaged. That being that he was officially engaged.

The Twitter theatricts were not the plot twitsts Marcus Smart planned for his engagement. He also had a special message planned before he popped the question.

In the moments leading up to the special moment, Will Smith sent a recorded video to Maisa Hallum. He didn't say much, but implied that something else was still on the way for her this christmas.

“Now, I know that you may not have gotten the stuff that you wanted, I promise you, you’re not going to end this Christmas empty-handed,” Smith said in a pre-taped clip.

Hallum was a bit confused by the video at first, but it all quickly made sense. Upon turning around, Marcus Smart was on one knee with the ring. Everything was captured on video, which he then posted on his Instagram.
