Giannis Antetokounmpo's shoes are called 'Zoom Freak' because of his playstyle

"Zoom Freak" shoes are a reference to both Nike's new technology and Giannis' playstyle. More specifically, they refer to Antetokounmpo's nickname: "The Greek Freak."

The "Zoom" part of Giannis' signature shoe refers to Nike's cushioning technology, which allows athletes to be quick, responsive, and agile.

Here is what the footwear company said about its technology:

"The technology uses pressurized air and tightly stretched fibers to absorb impact and then snap back for fast movement. ...reduces stress on muscles, joints, and tendons," Nike posted on its official website.

Thanks to Zoom technology, NBA players get the most out of their skills. Every milisecond counts in professional basketball, which is why Nike designed a perfect cushioning system for its top athletes.

The "GA" logo forms the shape of a triangle, which is the strongest shape. "GA" also references Antetokounmpo's initials. The negative space represents a maze. It could possibly be a reference to labyrinths from Greek mythology.

The letters are interlocked, which symbolizes Giannis' connection to his family. The Nike Zoom Freak 1 shoes feature the names of Giannis' parents, Veronica and Charles, as well as the names of his brothers.
