J.J. Weaver is an American college football player who plays at the outside linebacker position. He is in his junior year as of April 2025 and plays for the Kentucky Wildcats, a team that competes in the Football Bowl Subdivision. He is a five-year letter winner and three-time team captain. This is a record for itself as he is just one of the three to do so in the history of the program. Weaver has overall played in 58 career games and started 39 of them, as per his roster on the Wildcats University website. He has registered 197 career tackles, including 39.5 tackles for loss, 21.5 sacks. Weaver is a native of Louisville, Kentucky, and was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He graduated in December 2023 with a degree in community leadership and development.

J.J. Weaverstarted his college football career in 2019 with the Kentucky Wildcats, and it was his redshirt freshman year. He attended three games and made his college debut against Missouri. As a redshirt freshman in 2020, his name was enlisted in the All-SEC Freshman Team. His season was limited following a right knee injury, because of which he played in nine games and missed the final two games of the season. As a sophomore, he attended 12 games and started six of them, recording 34 tackles. In 2022, he was named the team captain during his junior year. Weaver played in 35 games and started 16 of them.

Weaver was again selected as the team captain in the 2023 season as a senior. He was a Jason Witten Man of the Year semifinalist that year and recorded 45 tackles. The following year, he was named as one of the 11 FBS Allstate AFCA Good Works Team members. He also won the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year and was a Wuerffel Trophy semifinalist. He attended 10 games and started all of them, totalling 32 tackles.

J.J. Weaver attended Moore Traditional High School, as per his roster on the Kentucky Wildcats University website. He was the nation’s best linebacker prospect as per the aforementioned website. The Rivals and 247Sports rated him as a four-star prospect. As a senior, he recorded 70 tackles, 10 sacks, three interceptions, and a fumble recovery. During his prep days in 2018, he also played at the tight end position and recorded passes for 102 yards and three touchdowns. He was honored with an all-state. As per the aforementioned source, Weaver had offers from Louisville, Miami, and Purdue before he chose to provide his commitment to play for the Wildcats.
