Deion Sanders was a baseball outfielder in Major League Baseball and an NFL cornerback. Known as 'Prime Time,' Sanders attended Florida State University for his college football career before entering the NFL and winning eight Pro Bowls for the Atlanta Falcons, San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, Washington Redskins, and Baltimore Ravens, among other organizations. He won two Super Bowl titles and was selected to six First-team All-Pro teams.

He started his head coaching career in 2012 with Prime Prep Academy. From 2020 to 2022, he was the Jackson State Tigers football team's head coach. As of August 2025, he is in his second year as the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes football team.

Deion Sanders' salary

Deion Sanders will earn $10 million in 2025 as the head coach of the University of Colorado Buffaloes. In March 2025, he signed a new contract extension for $54 million for five years. According to Sports Illustrated, the contract also contains raises to $11 million in 2027 and 2028 and $12 million in 2029. According to CBS Sports, this contract places him among the highest-paid college football coaches.

Deion Sanders Buyout

Sportico claims that if Sanders ends his new contract by Dec. 31, 2025, at the latest, CU will be entitled to $12 million in "liquidated damages." Sanders' buyout number decreases by at least $1 million annually. Before Dec. 31, 2026, the buyout decreases to $10 million; before December 31, 2027, it drops to $6 million; before Dec. 31, 2028, it drops to $4 million; and before December 31, 2029, it drops to $3 million. If Sanders departed Colorado before the end of 2025, his previous contract buyout was set at $8 million.

Deion Sanders Incentives

There are a lot of incentives in the new Deion Sanders contract, but some of the top ones are mentioned below.

• $400,000 for winning the conference championship or appearing in the College Football Playoff Round One. $400,000 bonus for achieving both, and an additional $50,000 for a Round One win. For earning a conference championship and a playoff first-round bye, a $450,000 bonus.

• $100,000 for appearing in the College Football Playoff Semi-Finals.

• $200,000 for appearing in the College Football Playoff Championship game.

• $250,000 for winning the National Championship.

• $75,000 for Sanders winning Big 12 Coach of the Year.

• $150,000 for Sanders winning National Coach of the Year.

• $150,000 for winning nine games in the regular season.

• $100,000 for each additional win after nine wins in the regular season.

• $150,000 for playing in the Big 12 Championship Game.

• $150,000 for being invited to a non-College Football Playoff Bowl Game.
