The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) lock horns with the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The high-stakes encounter will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, May 21.

Both teams have been in excellent form throughout the season, making this a much-anticipated contest. KKR, led by the ever-reliable Shreyas Iyer, will look to continue their winning juggernaut. Their batting has been a strong point, with the likes of Sunil Narine and Venkatesh Iyer providing explosive starts, while experienced campaigners like Shreyas Iyer himself and Andre Russell offer stability in the middle order.

Their bowling attack, spearheaded by the spin duo of Varun Chakravarthy and Narine, has been equally impressive.

SRH, on the other hand, have surprised many with their resurgence this season. Openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head have been in red-hot forms this season. Their bowling attack boasts of the experience of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Pat Cummins.

As both teams gear up for what could be an exciting battle, here are three big records that could be made in Qualifier 1 between KKR and SRH.

#1 KKR and/or SRH could set the record for most 200+ scores in an IPL season

It is the battle of two top batting powerhouses. Both KKR and SRH have set a new standard for T20 batting, going berserk in all 20 overs. Unsurprisingly, both teams have the most destructive batting run rate in IPL 2024. While SRH have operated at a rate of 10.11 per over, the Knight Riders have struck 9.9 runs every over they have batted so far.

Both franchises have clubbed scores over 200 runs six times so far this season, which is the joint-most by any team in a single IPL campaign. Another 200+ total in Ahmedabad will make either one or both KKR and SRH the new record-setters.

#2 Sunil Narine could become the first player to take 200 wickets for a single franchise

KKR legend Sunil Narine is on the cusp of a historic bowling achievement in the IPL. Since his debut in 2012, the world-class mystery spinner has been a cornerstone of Kolkata's success. His ability to bamboozle batters with his variations has been a key factor in KKR's title wins in 2012 and 2014.

Narine's Kolkata career has been nothing short of phenomenal. He has picked up a staggering 196 wickets, a testament to his consistency and effectiveness over the years. Even more impressive is his economy rate of 6.65, which highlights his ability to strangle run flow.

Narine, 35, stands four wickets away from etching his name in IPL history. If he can achieve this feat, he will become the first-ever bowler to take 200 wickets for a single IPL franchise.

#3 Bhuvneshwar Kumar set to create history

The spotlight will be on Bhuvneshwar Kumar in this match. The veteran pacer is just one wicket away from a significant milestone – becoming the first Indian fast bowler to reach 300 wickets in T20 cricket.

The achievement would solidify his place as one of India's all-time greats in white-ball cricket. Reaching this landmark would be a testament to Bhuvneshwar's consistency.

While spinners dominate the wicket-taking charts in T20s, Bhuvneshwar has carved a niche for himself with his swing bowling and ability to take wickets at crucial junctures. In his 283 T20 games, the Meerut-born pacer has scalped 299 wickets at an immaculate economy rate of 7.27.
