Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is a former Indian cricketer who was born on April 24, 1973. Regarded as one of the best batsmen of the game, he has amassed 30,000+ international runs, which no other player has ever scored.

He has achieved many great records in cricket and has major batting records under his belt. Some of the notable ones are:


Most Runs in International Cricket


Tendulkar has scored 15,921 runs in Tests and has 18,426 runs in the ODIs to his name. Including the T20 international runs, the tally goes up to 34,357 runs, which is more than 6000 runs ahead than the player at second place. Out of the present-day cricketers, AB De Villiers has 19,658 runs in international cricket.


Most Centuries in International Cricket


He also has the most number of centuries in both tests and ODIs with 51 and 49 respectively, making it a total of 100 centuries which is another unique feat. Second-placed Ricky Ponting has 71 international centuries to his name, while the current Indian skipper Virat Kohli has 56 hundreds.

Second Highest ODI Partnership


In 1999, Sachin Tendulkar and former Indian skipper Rahul Dravid made the record of highest ODI batting partnership of 331 runs in a match against New Zealand which was later broken by Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels in 2015.

Wisden Cricketers’ Awards


In 2002, Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack ranked him as the second greatest Test batsman of all time behind Sir Donald Bradman and second greatest ODI batsman after Sir Vivian Richards.


In 2013, he was the only Indian cricketer to be included in the all-time Test XI named to mark the 150th anniversary of Wisden Cricketers' Almanack.


World Cup Records


In the 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup in South Africa, Sachin Tendulkar was named as the 'Man of the Tournament’ for scoring 673 runs. He was also part of the Indian squad which won the 2011 World Cup. Besides that, he also has the most number of runs (2,278) and most number of centuries (6) in World Cups.

First Double Hundred in ODI Cricket


On February 24, 2010, in a match against South Africa, Sachin became the first batsman to score a double hundred in ODIs. After him, four more players achieved this feat with Rohit Sharma scoring 200 on maximum occasions (thrice).


Indian Honorary Awards


For his achievements, he is awarded Arjuna Award in 1994 for his outstanding sporting achievements, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 1999; Padma Shri and Padma Vibhushan, which are India's fourth and second highest civilian awards in 1999 and 2008 respectively.


He was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award in 2013, and became the youngest recipient of the award.
