Electronic Arts' FIFA 22 is a football simulation video game. It is the 29th instalment in the FIFA series, and it was released on October 1, 2021, for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The game runs on Frostbite 3 engine and Ignite for Switch only.
Every year, FIFA selects a coverstar or stars to launch the game title; for the second year in a row, Kylian Mbappé is the cover athlete. FIFA 22 comes in two editions: Standard Edition and Ultimate Edition. Unlike previous games in the series, FIFA 22 does not have a Champions Edition.
EA introduced the "Hypermotion" technology in FIFA 22 this year. The concept makes use of motion capture data gathered by having 22 real-life players wear motion capture suits and play an entire professional-level football match. The data gathered from all the player activities on field is then used to power how individuals and teams move across the field in the game.
FIFA 22 includes the regular single-player "career mode" and also adds a create-a-club option to the manager's career. FIFA 22 Ultimate Team introduced "FUT Heroes" cards, which have a distinct league-specific chemistry that is linked to their specific hero moment of a player.
The Indian Super League and its eleven teams were added for the first time, as was the UEFA Europa Conference League, the third tier of European club football established in 2021. Juventus, Roma, Atalanta, and Lazio are absent from FIFA 22 due to licensing issues.
FIFA 22 is available to play on Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
