God of War: Ragnarok has received a lot of praise, and many consider it the best game of the year. Its lovely and meaningful plot is likely its greatest strength among all the things it accomplishes well. Nevertheless, as the title implies, God of War: Ragnarok is about Ragnarok, a devastating war in Norse mythology that the game centers around. Thus, because of the war across the Nine Realms, many characters, including Brok, die during the course of the game.

Who is Brok?

Brok is a Dwarf, who with his brother Sindri, crafted Thor's hammer, Mjölnir, and Kratos' ax, Leviathan, which once belonged to Laufey. They provided comic relief for Kratos and Atreus during their travels in God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok (2022).

Before the events of God of War (2018), Brok was killed by a spider seeking vengeance on the dwarf for slaying its kin. Sindri brought him back to life, although with a fragmented soul.

How does Brok die in God of War Ragnarok?

After Heimdall's death and Atreus' theft of Odin's mask, the company prepares for Ragnarok, and it is at this point that Tyr declares he can lead them into Asgard. The Aesir God of War changed his mind and disclosed that he knew a secret entrance into Asgard, telling Loki (Atreus) that his destiny is upon them. Brok becomes suspicious as a result, and he confronts Tyr, who retaliates by stabbing Brok in the chest before unveiling himself to be Odin.

Does Odin die in God of War Ragnarok?

Kratos and Atreus confront Odin after he kills Thor near the end of the struggle for the Nine Realms, and the three battle each other. However, just when Kratos and Atreus appeared to be on their way to defeating the All-Father, he manages to snare them in a Runic trap and was about to slay them when Freya intervened and turned the battle around. She had Odin in her clutches but wanted him to suffer for what he had done to her, but she takes too long, which allows the Aesir chieftain to flee.

The trio follow him and battle him in a long and complex fight that ends with their victory, although Atreus tries to convince Odin that there is another way and to give up the war. He refuses to listen, prompting Atreus to intervene and transfer Odin's soul into a spiritual stone. He then offers it to Freya, who has lost her desire for vengeance, at which point Sindiri appears, grabs the stone, and destroys it, killing Odin.

Is there a special mission related to Brok?

Following the conclusion of the war and the endgame, Kratos can head to Svartalfeim to complete the quest “A Viking Funeral.” This is a special endgame mission related to Brok which allows the former Greek God of War a chance to say goodbye to his friend first before taking part in Brok’s funeral, giving the dwarf a proper Norse burial.
