Arkane Studios, the studio behind the Dishonored series, Deathloop, 2017's Prey revival, and, more recently, the Wolfenstein spin-offs, is set to release Redfall. Redfall, along with Bethesda's in-house project Starfield, is one of the most anticipated games of 2023. But, like Starfield, it was postponed last year, with information about its new release timetable that might be clearer soon.

What is Redfall about?

Redfall is set on the fictitious community island of Redfall, Massachusetts, which should have chosen a different name to prevent dark things from happening there. The village has been walled off from the outside world and invaded by vampires due to a failed research experiment; to make matters worse, some human inhabitants have also chosen to turn on their fellow survivors.

Redfall Gameplay

Redfall is a "story-driven shooter" that combines FPS and RPG features and pits one to four players against hordes of the undead. This immediately reminded us of Left 4 Dead, although Arkane swiftly dismissed this link. Instead, they're referring to the game's vast environment as proof that Redfall will be more like games like Far Cry.

Will Redfall allow cross-platform play?

Arkane just revealed that Redfall would enable cross-platform play between Xbox and PC and cross-platform play between the different stores where the game is available. Whether you got Redfall through Steam, Epic, or Game Pass, you and your friends may play co-op vampire slaying.

Will Redfall be a multi-player game?

Although the game's early announcements focused mainly on its multiplayer co-operative feature, it has since been revealed that the game will also offer the option to play solo and that each hero character may deal with every encounter in the game in a single-player mode.

This should be good news for Arkane fans who fell in love with the studio's solid single-player titles and were anxious about missing out on the Redfall fun. But Bethesda has revealed that Redfall will require a continual online connection to play, even if you're killing solo.
