God of War Ragnarok is a mythological action-adventure game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment in 2022. It was released exclusively for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on November 9, making it the first official cross-gen release in the God of War series. This makes it the ninth installment in the series, and the sequel to 2018's God of War. It is loosely based on Norse mythology, is set in ancient Scandinavia, and also features series protagonist Kratos and his teenage son Atreus.
