While we have yet to know the GTA 6 storyline, there is an ongoing rumor that the game had multiple draft scripts before finalizing the current one. According to a recent report by Medium, the game went through various changes in the storyline during the development process. The allegedly cancelled drafts had various intriguing gameplay details that might have worked for the studio.

This article lists five reasons why the cancelled GTA 6 script drafts may have worked for the upcoming game.

5 details that indicate that the cancelled GTA 6 script may have worked for Rockstar Games

1) Players are accustomed to three protagonists

The Medium report stated that Rockstar had planned for three GTA 6 protagonists before finalizing the script with Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Grand Theft Auto 5 already has three playable characters, and many fans have been expecting the same from the next iteration.

Therefore, the cancelled script would have surely worked without removing the third protagonist.

2) There was a new perspective

While Grand Theft Auto series games are known for being criminal-centric, the report stated that Rockstar had planned to give the next game a cop’s perspective. This new outlook would have also worked, considering the studio is known for its superior storytelling.

GTA 6 fans should know that before the series took off in 1997, Rockstar Games (then DMA Design) planned to make it a cop-centric game where you catch criminals.

3) Players love to create havoc in the game

Another GTA 6 storyline detail stated that there was supposed to be a character very similar to Trevor Philips. The popular Grand Theft Auto 5 protagonist is known for his chaotic behaviour. One moment he’s fine, and the next moment, you can see him unleashing havoc like there's no tomorrow.

Since Grand Theft Auto players love to be reckless at times, a Trevor-like protagonist would have surely worked in the storyline.

4) A family drama would have been nice

The report also stated that a cop and his son were supposed to be the playable characters in GTA 6, where the former protects his drug-addict son from the underworld criminals. This was a completely new perspective that included family drama and crime.

Rockstar Games should have continued with the script, as it sounds intriguing on paper. The Grand Theft Auto series has yet to get a storyline like this, and the developer should make it a reality in the future.

5) Vice City remains at the core

Even though the GTA 6 storyline reportedly had different characters and plots, one common thing was that they all took place in Vice City. The player base is eagerly waiting for a new map after spending over a decade in Los Santos.

Therefore, any storyline with a modern-day Vice City would have surely worked for the fans. Rockstar should consider releasing the canceled scripts as single-player DLCs in the future.
