Christopher James Weidman (born June 17, 1984) is an American mixed martial artist competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight division and previously held the title of UFC Middleweight Champion.

As an amateur wrestler, Weidman earned two NJCAA All-American, and NCAA Division I All-American accolades during his years as a college athlete. Beginning mixed martial arts training in 2008 and joining UFC in 2011, his journey quickly led to him compiling an unblemished 9-0 record before defeating Anderson Silva to claim UFC Middleweight Championship for two and a half years, successfully defending it three separate times. Weidman won international renown after defeating Silva - ending his 16-fight undefeatable streak and seven-year reign.

Weidman was born in Baldwin, New York, on June 17th, 1984, as the second of three siblings. He was of German and Irish heritage and was raised Lutheran faith. He pursued numerous athletic pursuits with both of his older brothers - wrestling being one of them. From the outset of wrestling, he quickly excelled, earning titles both at Baldwin Senior High School in Long Island as a Nassau County champion and as a New York state wrestling champion during his time there.

During his college journey, Weidman's prowess remained evident. He secured two All-American distinctions in wrestling while at Nassau Community College before transferring to Hofstra University. A remarkable feat was achieved as he became the inaugural junior college wrestler to clinch the title of NYS Collegiate Champion. Progressing to Hofstra University, his achievements endured, marked by earning the status of NCAA Division I All-American in two consecutive years. Notably, he secured sixth place at the 2006 NCAA championships during his junior year and followed with a commendable third-place finish at the 2007 NCAA championships in his senior year.
