The third day of the 2023 NFL scouting combine had many skill players testing alongside the quarterbacks. This provided a ton of enthusiasm for fans and draft analysts who were excited to see their favorite prospects.
Draft stocks all changed on Saturday due to measurements and athletic performance in three different positions. Let's check out which players had a Saturday to forget and saw their draft stock go down on Day 3 of the combine.
5 players whose draft stock fell down during Day 3 of the NFL Combine
#1 - Jordan Addison, WR, USC
Addison measured smaller than he was listed on the USC Trojans website, and his 5-foot-11 frame is not impressive by any means. Nobody expected much more than 171 pounds, but running a 4.49 with that number is far from ideal.
Addison's quality is clear on film, but scouts will be tough - they don't want average athletes taken in the first round.
#2 - Kayshon Boutte, WR, LSU
Boutte was supposed to be a superstar for LSU right after the perfect 2019 team, but he never fulfilled his potential following a great rookie year.
His testing at the combine? Disappointing. With just a 29'' vertical leap, he didn't erase any concerns about his small frame, instead he threw gas on the fire; a 4.5 40-yard dash only officially sealed him out of the early rounds.
#3 - Max Duggan, QB, TCU
Duggan rose to prominence during the 2022 season as he led the TCU Horned Frogs to a surprise championship game appearance (although what happened there shouldn't be mentioned). He was not expected to be drafted, but after a strong season, he deserved a chance to improve scouts.
The problem is that his throwing session during the combine was poor, with many throws off-target and missing the perfect timing. If he can't hit open receivers without any pressure coming at him, he certainly won't be able to do that in the NFL.
#4 - Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame
Mayer was average in the most perfect way. His stock actually fell down because the other guys at the position had a strong showing (Darnell Washington was the highlight here) while he ran just a 4.75 and a 32.5 vertical jump. His TE1 stock is clearly in danger following Saturday's testing.
#5 - Tank Dell, WR, Houston
One of the smallest guys in the class, Dell needed incredible numbers to improve his draft stock as a way to compensate for his small frame. While he wasn't bad, he did not have any eye-popping numbers that had scouts mouth-watering for his pick. He's not going to be an early pick.
