AJ McCarron has earned $15,614,468 in his professional football career, all of which has come from playing in the National Football League. The Cincinnati Bengals drafted McCarron as the 164th overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft following a stellar college football career playing for the Alabama Crimson Tide.

He came into the league with great expectations, as he was quickly one of the most successful college quarterbacks in history. McCarron signed a four-year deal worth $2,401,652 to play for the Bengals, which is standard for a fifth-round draft pick.

Following the expiration of his contract with the Bengals, he made the move to the Buffalo Bills where he signed a two-year, $4 million contract with the Bills.

Unfortunately, for AJ McCarron and the Bills, he got a shoulder injury and was ruled out for the season. He was later traded to the Oakland Raiders, who absorbed his salary. McCarron played one season with the Raiders as a backup before the Oakland side released him.

McCarron then continued his professional football career as a member of the Houston Texans where he was signed on a $7,000,316 deal. He appeared four times for the Texans before he was released at the end of his contract. After his release from the Texans, he played one season with the Atlanta Falcons and earned $1,212,500 for his efforts.

AJ McCarron College Football Timeline

AJ McCarron made a name for himself as the starting quarterback for Nick Saban's Alabama Crimson Tide, a team he appeared for in four seasons. He joined the Crimson Tide in time for the 2010 College season and acted as a backup for incumbent starter Greg McElroy.

McCarron started off the bench in all thirteen games of the season, and McCarron hardly saw quality time on the Gridiron. He finished the season with 389 passing yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions in 13 games off the bench. He was part of Alabama's 2009 National Championship-clinching team.

AJ McCarron took over the starting job from the departed Greg McElroy and led the Crimson Tide for the 2011 College season. He started all thirteen games for the Crimson Tide and helped Nick Saban's side to an 11–1 overall record during the regular season, including a 7–1 record in conference.

These performances took him and the Crimson Tide to the BCS National Championship and his second championship as a member of the Crimson Tide. He finished the season with 2,634 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and five interceptions.

Fresh off his first year as the undisputed starter in Alabama, AJ McCarron kept his spot ahead of the 2012 college season. He took his side to a 2012 SEC Championship Game against traditional rivals, the Georgia Bulldogs.

The McCarron-led Crimson Tide beat the Bulldogs 32–28 and qualified for the 2013 BCS National Championship against Notre Dame University. McCarron was spectacular in the BCS Championship Game, where he threw for four touchdowns and led the Crimson Tide to a 42–14 over Notre Dame.

With that win, he became the first quarterback to win back-to-back BCS titles. He put up 2,933 passing yards, 30 touchdowns, and three interceptions stat line for the season.

AJ McCarron entered his fourth and final season of college eligibility with a chip on his shoulder. He knew he had to improve his NFL draft stock and did just that. He broke some records for the season but couldn't take the Crimson Tide to another BCS National Championship victory.

That's because the Crimson Tide lost its Iron Bowl matchup against Auburn. McCarron finished the season with 3,063 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
