Derek Carr has a hilarious response to being named to Pro Bowl in 2023

Las Vegas Raiders v Pittsburgh Steelers
Derek Carr was named a Pro Bowler

Derek Carr was named to the Pro Bowl as an alternative. He wasn't initially voted in, but has been named a Pro Bowler this season due to players backing out for various reasons (injury, Super Bowl, etc.).

Though it wasn't the biggest surprise on the Pro Bowl roster, it was a surprise to see Carr named a Pro Bowler. In fact, it was surprising to the quarterback himself.

Carr laughed about it online:

"Well... maybe this invitation got lost in the mail from past seasons but I'm going back to pro bowl #4. See you soon Vegas!"

Obviously, Carr did not have the season he or the Raiders envisioned. In fact, it's very likely that his tenure as a Raiders quarterback is done. He was benched in the final couple of games for Jarrett Stidham.

The statistical totals weren't that great either way. Carr has had better seasons in which he didn't make the Pro Bowl, which is why he can only laugh at the irony.

Carr is a surprising addition to the Pro Bowl roster, especially after throwing 14 interceptions. He's not the biggest surprise, though, as Baltimore Ravens backup Tyler Huntley was named an alternate for Josh Allen.

What's next for Derek Carr?

It is very clear that the Las Vegas Raiders are all but done with Derek Carr. His career there is likely over and he will probably be traded elsewhere sooner rather than later.

The trade market is a little depressed right now, so there's no rush to move on from him, but that's almost a foregone conclusion. That's the most likely outcome right now.

Where will Derek Carr play next?
Where will Derek Carr play next?

Teams like the New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Green Bay Packers, San Francisco 49ers and others that could need a quarterback for 2023 will be interested and may have already contacted Las Vegas about him, though they have said they haven't given him trade permission.

However, with Carr's cap hit, a deal is harder to make. The Raiders may have to eat some of the salary or sweeten the deal to move on from him.

Right now, he's a Raider and a Pro Bowler. Within a few months, only one of those statements may still be true.
