Tom Brady's longevity over the years has mostly been down to how healthy he has kept himself. That at 45, he is not only the greatest of all time, but still playing at the highest level is otherwise unimaginable. In the 2020 season, Brady was the Super Bowl MVP as he won his seventh Lombardi Trophy and his first with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

None of this would be possible without keeping himself fit. A key component of that is his weight. Eating and exercising properly are good ways to maintain a healthy body weight. When Tom Brady was drafted, he weighed 211 pounds. Today, he weighs 225 pounds. Considering he has played for more than 22 years in the league, it has been a long time to maintain such a near-constant weight. Anybody who has struggled with weight gain after their twenties can easily relate.

In fact, another measure of perhaps his improved fitness is his 40-yard dash time. At the NFL Combine, he measured at 5.28 seconds. In 2020, it had dropped to 5.17 seconds. It is a direct indicator of not only maintaining a healthy weight but all the benefits that come with it.

Tom Brady's famous diet

Tom Brady maintains his weight using a combination of foods that he calls the 'TB12 method.' He limits meat consumption to sporadic fish and lean meat. The diet is generally plant-based. He consumes a lot of nuts, seeds, fruits, vegetables and legumes. What he misses in terms of proteins, he gets from protein shakes. He has also cut out some items that he believes could lead to inflammation and pH imbalance, such as aubergines and tomatoes.

He looks in better shape now than he ever did. In fact, one could argue that given his height of 6'4", his current weight is healthier than his draft weight. He is fitter than ever before, which sounds surprising given he has been in the league for over twenty years.

Much like a fine wine, Tom Brady just keeps getting better with age. Despite a disappointing season, whether he has another rabbit to pull off his sleeve will be fun to watch.
